22 Weeks...

How far along? 22 weeks

Date picture was taken: Sunday, March 31, 2013.

Total weight gain/loss: TBD...I have my next appointment on April 4th so I will have another weigh in then.

Maternity clothes? Yep...although I am still wearing a number of non-maternity shirts. Getting dressed in the morning though isn't easy...I find myself trying on multiple tops before I find one that looks flattering enough to walk out of the house. I am so thankful that my work has a casual dress code so I can wear jeans every day.

Stretch marks? Still doing good...

Sleep: Looking back after a few stressful weeks of work, I can honestly say the stress greatly impacted my sleep. I even had a few nights of relatively no sleep. I'm sure that's why I've been so tired on the weekends. I am trying my best to keep work at work and I am doing everything I can to stop the late night thoughts about work...although it isn't always that easy. The heartburn has subsided a bit...I think because of the slight modifications to my diet and thankfully that seems to be working.

Best moment this week: Well...I guess I would have to say I am happy we finally created our baby registry. While it is still pretty early, I have my baby showers in Michigan the first weekend in May. I knew the invites would be going out soon so I needed to get working on the registry. We registered on Friday at Babies R Us. I still may need to make some changes to it but we at least got it started.

Miss Anything? Coffee! After those sleepless nights it certainly didn't make things any easier when I couldn't turn to caffeine.

Movement: Yes! And lots of it!

Food cravings: Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and milk.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show yet: Of course...and the bump keeps growing.

Gender: Girl

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Feeling: Excited and happy! And happy to report that we have a name. I know I've said we've had one for awhile now but we can say 100% we've picked the name and are sticking to it. We won't be sharing it though until the birth...sorry!

Looking forward to: Next doctors appointment which is in a few days.

Next Appt: April 4th

Another Baby Pic...

I'm sorry it has taken me a few weeks to post this. Work has been crazy and the weekends have been spent doing errands and trying to squeeze in a little time for relaxing. We had our ultrasound with our doctor's office on March 12th. According to the ultrasound technician everything looked good but we will get our official results at our next doctor's appointment on April 4th.

I wish I had more to share but we were only given three pictures at our appointment. One of them is just evidence that it's a girl and really looks like nothing so I've decided not to post it and the other one Mr. has at work...I know...so sweet...he is already becoming a proud dad. :)

That leaves us with only one picture to share...

But isn't it such a cute profile picture?!?

19 Weeks...

How far along? 19 weeks

Date picture was taken: Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Total weight gain/loss: As of my last doctor's appointment on March 6th, I've gained another 7lbs...I'm up to 15 pounds gained so far.

Maternity clothes? Yep, I've taken the plunge and I don't think I'm turning back. While some of my pants still fit (barely!), I've decided that maternity clothes are just so much more comfy. Thank you, Danielle, for loaning me your maternity clothes! I think I would rather wear maternity pants then trying the belly band or hair tie technique that many other women have told me about. I completely understand why women try to wait as long as they can to begin purchasing maternity clothes...it's a strange mental thing...something about wearing maternity clothes is hard to swallow. I was the same way...I wanted to wait as long as I possibly could. My feelings on this changed completely when I was given my first pair of maternity jeans to try on. They were amazing! Flattering and super comfy...I am now officially hooked!

Stretch marks? Nope, thank goodness, I'm still good.

Sleep: Pretty good. Although I've, unfortunately, started experiencing the WORST heartburn a few nights this week. I am now trying to make a few adjustments to my diet and sleeping with my head propped up. I'm hopeful these small changes will prevent the heartburn from returning as bad as it did those first few nights. Additionally I had one night that I woke up at 4am because I was starving...and, yes, I actually went to the kitchen and ate a bowl of cereal. :)

Best moment this week: Can I say Best Moments of the week?? Feeling the baby move and actually realizing it was her was pretty amazing! Please see more on that below. I also enjoyed my doctor's appointment this week. Hearing babies heartbeat and being told that things are progressing smoothly is so reassuring. Additionally we found out, at our appointment, that we have received the all clear on the Serum Integrated Screenings. This tested the baby for Down syndrome, trisomy 18, Neural Tube defects and SLOS. In layman's terms this means we received negative results for mental retardation, spina bifida and physical birth defects.

Miss Anything? Feta cheese! In the past few years I have grown to love Greek salads, Greek wraps and other yummy food that has feta cheese. I honestly haven't been ordering Greek food because it just wouldn't be the same without the Feta.

Movement: As a first time mom, I hear it is a little more difficult to distinguish the first movements...and for the past two weeks I have been trying to distinguish whether I have gas or if it's the baby moving. I'm 100% convinced I have been feeling her move this week. It's so exciting!

Food cravings: I'm happy to report that I have cut back on my soda consumption...thankfully! My cravings for the past few weeks have been cheeseburgers. I've been treating myself weekly to a yummy burger!

Anything making you queasy or sick: For the first time during this pregnancy, I can say No. Yay!

Have you started to show yet: Yes, a little more each week. I've been wearing maternity clothes the past couple weeks, which I think made things a little more noticeable.

Gender: It's a sweet baby girl!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Feeling: Moody, on and off the past few weeks. Sorry to those that may have caught me during one of these times. Also feeling a little stressed and trying to get over a cold.

Looking forward to: Beginning to start work on the nursery.

Next Appt: Ultrasound on March 12th

Highlights from our San Fran Trip...

I started this Blog as a way to document our life with our amazing Doodle, Petunia, but, since I've become pregnant, I've realized I want to share more. Mainly because we live 2,500 miles away from our family and childhood friends, and we often get asked to see pictures from trips and events in our lives. I figure these requests will grow increasingly more as our family grows and there are even more milestones and happenings in our lives. We are happy to share and love the opportunity to document our story.

Well...since it will be another week before I post my next pregnancy pictures I thought I would spend a few minutes posting a few pictures from our recent trip to San Francisco. For some reason, after sorting through all of the pictures, I noticed that we are missing a few...makes me wonder if one of us accidentally deleted pictures or worse, something is wrong with my camera. My guess is that we accidentally deleted a few of the pictures...and isn't it just our luck that they happen to be two in particular that I liked and specifically remember taking...1 on the cable car and 1 near the bridge...such a bummer...but life goes on. :)

We stayed at the beautiful and historic Fairmont hotel. I wish I would have taken pictures inside the hotel. It had so much history. My mother-in-law would have loved the history in this hotel...it opened in 1907. Here are pictures from the hotels website http://www.fairmont.com/san-francisco/

Much to our surprise, when we checked in they said they could upgrade our room for free. Really?!?! We were upgraded to a tower room...when we walked into our room we saw this beautiful view...

The Golden Gate Bridge in the Distance
Alcatraz Island
We think this is Nob Hill....
The Coit Tower...we walked to this and took the elevator to the top.

Here are some of the pictures we took around town...

Waterfall at Golden Gate Park
What a view of the city...we were thankful to have beautiful weather while we were there....it was clear and warm everyday.
Mr. in front of the infamous Jerry Garcia house in Haight-Ashbury.
At the painted ladies...Full House anyone???
The iconic Golden Gate Bridge
Fisherman's Wharf...Loved the Clam Chowder Soup and Bread Bowls.
Near Ghirardelli Square...notice Buena Vista in the background...they are known for their Irish Coffee...and you can see the Cable Car too!

15 Weeks...

How far along? 15 weeks

Date picture was taken: Saturday, February 9th, 2013. I'd like to take a quick minute to point out my sweatshirt. It's impossible to read in this picture...but it's my new favorite sweatshirt. Mr. bought it for me for Christmas and since it's quickly becoming quite snug, I decided this might be one of the last times I get to wear it (at least for awhile). It's an Alabama sweatshirt! It's true I became a closet 'Bama Football fan. Roll Tide!

Total weight gain/loss: After spending 5 days in San Francisco, a foodie paradise, I was incredibly scared to get on the scale this week for my appointment. Drum Roll please...I gained 8lbs...eek!

Maternity clothes? Nope, but I am noticing my pants getting a little tight.

Stretch marks? Nope. I am applying Mustela daily which I am hopeful will help prevent stretch marks. I have my fingers crossed.

Sleep: Still sleeping good although I've had a cold this week so it's been a little more difficult for me to get comfortable.

Best moment this week: Hearing the baby's heartbeat. We also had a blast on our trip! We'll post a few pictures soon.

Miss Anything? Well...to be honest...it was hard to be on vacation, enjoying some of the best food in the world, and not being able to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner.

Movement: Not yet. I can't wait until we feel our first kicks!

Food cravings: Mac and cheese and Sprite! It's true, after almost 2 years of not drinking any soda, I am now drinking a soda a day.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really...I got a little car sick on our tour bus on our trip...but Mr. did too so I don't think it was pregnancy related. I've had some really bad headaches though...those have made be feel a little sick.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, a little.

Gender: We've had more boy predictions.

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Feeling: Like I need to start working out. All the walking in San Francisco made me realize I am out of shape.

Looking forward to: Our 4D Ultrasound on Valentine's day.

Next Appt: March 6th

Let the Countdown Begin...

How far along? 12 weeks

Date picture was taken: Saturday, January 19th, 2013

Total weight gain/loss: According to the Doctors office, less than 1 pound at 10 weeks and 5 days. This was compared to my most recent trip to the Doctor back in August 2012. Home scale says I have gained between 4-5lbs...I like the Dr's # better.

Maternity clothes? Nope, not yet.

Stretch marks? No

Sleep: Sleeping good - minus the occasional hot sweats and at least one trip to the bathroom a night.

Best moment this week: Finally starting to feel better! Had bad morning sickness and an overall lousy feeling for the past 6 weeks so it feels great to be feeling better.

Miss Anything? Coffee

Movement: Not yet

Food cravings: Carbs, Carbs and more Carbs. I'm loving bread sticks, english muffins, pasta. And eggs too!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not eating frequently enough

Have you started to show yet: Well...Mr. says it just looks like I ate too much!

Gender: Unknown...but some are predicting a boy. 4D Ultrasound has been scheduled for Valentine's Day. We hope to find out the gender then!

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In
